BODY BLAST

Rooted & Ready

Thank you for moving with me & thank yourselves for taking the time to re-connect with yourself.
You gave yourself 45 minutes with no scoreboard, no stats, no one keeping count... just you, your breath, and your body.

Rooted means you're steady in yourself, and strong from the ground up. Ready means you can move when it counts, and come back down when you need to. Everything we did today lives on this page. Come back to it before a big game, after a hard one, or any time it gets loud in your head.
If you had a good time, i would love if you could let me know what you liked.
If you didn't, please let me know how I can make the experience better for you.

Breathwork

A person underwater facing a fish near their face.
Two breaths you can take anywhere: the sideline, the huddle, the car before a hard conversation.

The Reset (for when something rattles you):

Big inhale through your nose, a short sip of air on top, then a long slow exhale out the mouth. Do this for two or three rounds and you start to come back home to yourself. You don't have to feel confident; you just have to be calm enough to trust yourself.

The Steady (for before it starts):

Inhale for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 4, hold for 4. Helps to ground the body, mind, and soul.

Movement

A group of people practicing yoga on a beach, with some in downward dog pose and a woman standing and looking at her phone, under a clear sky.
Movement is where "rooted" gets real.

the strong standing poses build the stability underneath every plant, cut, and landing, and the balance poses teach your body to find its center after it wobbles.

You don't need a full flow; even a few minutes resets you.

When you've got five: stand tall, move through a few Sun Salutations, and take up as much space as you can as you go. Maybe add a balancing pose on each side or a backbend at the top, notice how your body finds it's way back to center. Then, fold over your legs and let your head hang heavy.

Strong from the ground up.

Meditation: Body scan

Person under water covering their face with water splashing around.
Ten minutes to come home to yourself; the meditation we closed with.
Lie down or sit somewhere quiet, soften into the earth, and let yourself be guided through your breath, into your body, and back to the version of you that is underneath all of the noise.

BODY SCAN MEDITATION

1. Notice the outside World. Feel the earth beneath you, notice the sounds you hear, the texture of the air...
2. Use the breath to turn inwards. Soften the space between you eyebrows, your jaw, your shoulders. Notice the breath.
3. Scan the body and soften from the feet to the crown of your head, slowly, noticing all of the sensation you feel as you go.
This helps remind your body that it can trust itself, and helps us become more aware of the space we are in. Even if this is one minute on the bus, it can help get out of your head and in to "the zone".
